STUDENT WORKSHOP - GOODMAN THEATRE
"Play Build / Youth Intensive"
The Goodman’s PlayBuild Youth Intensive is a comprehensive six-week summer intensive designed to foster critical thinking, literacy and storytelling skills in 14- to 18-year-old students. Students collaborate with local theater professionals on ensemble-building exercises designed to validate the voices of students, inspire them to examine their own potential for creativity and introduce them to all elements of the creation of theater. The program culminates in a public presentation of an original performance conceived and executed by the participants.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES - THE SHEDD AQUARIUM
Exhibit Interpretation (all year)
Age: 12−15 with an adult guardian; 16+ individually | Shift times: Mornings and afternoons, Monday – Sunday | Commitment: 6 months (weekday), 1 year (every other weekend)
Engage guests in learning with Shedd throughout our exhibits by using techniques such as questioning, descriptive language and prop usage. Responsibilities include promoting self-discovery and deeper connections to the living world, engaging guests with relevant animal information and providing great customer service for audiences of various backgrounds.
Strolling Interpretation (summer only)
Age: 12−15 with an adult guardian; 16+ individually | Shift times: 9am-3pm, Friday – Sunday | Commitment: once weekly from June 12th-August 16th
Volunteers build excitement and help create special Shedd moments by engaging guests with relevant animal information and providing great customer service for audiences of various backgrounds. This may include guests who are waiting to enter the building, and exhibit, or a presentation.

PAID INTERNSHIP - MIKVA CHALLENGE
Mikva Challenge works with young people in the city of Chicago to develop the next generation of civic leaders, policy-makers, activists and advocates. Working as a paid intern with Mikva could include:
Program Dates: Program begins on June 29th and ends on August 7th. You will work for 16-20 hours per week, 4 days per week. We will have a 4 hour program orientation the week of June 22nd.
Award: Interns will receive a stipend, lunch, and CTA fare to and from work.
You can apply if: You live in Chicago and will be between the ages of 16-20 on June 30, 2015. (You must be born on or before June 29, 1999!). You can be in high school, college, or out of school.

Camp GirlForward
June 23rd-August 14th
Camp GirlForward is an 8-week intensive academic program for refugee girls focused on English language, history, and high school coping skills. Camp GirlForward is informed by the tenets of social justice and classroom instruction is framed through the lens of identity, community, and power. Girls will learn about who they are, their community, and how they can positively impact their world. Activities include classroom instruction Tuesday- Thursday and weekly field trips on Fridays. Printable flyer attached.
This FREE program also includes lunch and unlimited CTA for the duration of summer.
Summer drop in is open to ALL girls who came to the US with refugee or asylee status in 6th-12th grade. This program is open to girls enrolled and not enrolled in camp.
During summer drop in Girls can use computers, borrow books from our library, work with an English tutor, and hang out with other girls.

ESL ClassMondays, June 22rd-August 24th This summer we will also be offering an additional English course to girls who came to the US with refugee or asylee status and are entering 9th-12th grade. This course is open to both girls in Camp and those not registered in Camp.
